inHeritage won the tender to design the website for the HLF-funded Staveley History Group's community archaeological dig. Nick Roscoe, inHeritage's specialist community website collaborator is working closely with the group on the website.
Part of the commission is to install an innovative on-site webcam to feed live images of the excavation trenches to the website. The camera has to be portable so that dig members can move it to the location of the latest finds. The website also features a daily diary section that is updateable by team members with no website design experience. The website and equipment will become an important legacy for the Group after the dig is completed.
The excavation runs between the 14th August and 1st September 2006. It is part of the Group's ongoing research into the origins and history of the Staveley township. You can visit the website here.
